    Description

    Vernon Kilns,  Vernon, CA  1916-1960
Beautiful lavender glaze covers this vintage rippled platter made by the Hamilton sisters.
For a brief time starting in 1936, May & Vieve Hamilton, noted ceramists, designed and modeled an exceptional body of artware for Vernon Kilns.     The handled platter has graduated narrow rings around the edge.   In great condition and measures 14 1/2" x 17" at its widest.   Signed.    Comes from the estate of the late Bill Sterns, founder of the Museum of CA Design in Los Angeles.    Photo 5 taken from Mr. Sterns' book and photo 6 from our Vernon reference book.   Also have 1 in pale turquoise-shown in last photo.
