Up for sale is an amazing and highly collectible World War I Poster.  It was put out by the U.S. Food Administration in about 1917. What they were trying to get across is that we needed to be mindful of what and how much we ate so that we had enough to supply the troops fighting across seas. It was Americans duty to help with the war effort.  This is a very rare version with the Image of German Kaiser Wilhelm II with a U.S. ship in flames and the silhouette of a German U-Boat in foreground.  Poster is in very rough condition with lots of touch-ups, tears, repairs, discoloration, edge & corner wear.  It was in very fragile condition and someone used rigid gum tape to repair the entire backside of poster.  There are several spots where there were multiple tears that were repaired.  Left side has a repair patch and a spot that is missing some of poster material.  Almost entire edge of poster has been touched up with black marker as well as touch-ups on creases and tear repairs. Most all scuffs and dings were also touched up.   Edge has lots of fraying and wear to edges and corners.  Couple of corners are missing.  Patch on left side was repaired using a black pen to re-do the black smoke of the burning ship.  Poster actually would look nice framed.  You really notice the major flaws when looking at poster up close.  It is a miracle that this survived in any condition being that it is over 100 years old and made of a rigid paper material.  These just didn't survive.  It measures 14 in. x 21 1/2 in.  Overall, just a super cool and extremely rare World War I Poster.   Please check out photos as they are also part of item description.
