Original  1960 -1965  RUSSIAN  BAYONET and SCABBARD.
HISTORY:
FROM BCN BAYONET COLLECTORS NETWORK
The AKM TYPE 1 was as groundbreaking as the Kalashnikov rifle itself. It incorporated a number of features, making for an incredibly versatile bayonet. The one-piece molded plastic grip & pommel; and stainless steel blade made the bayonet impervious to rust and rot. The un-fullered clip-point blade had saw-teeth along the spine. The steel scabbard body had a lug at the point that engaged a window cut into the blade, so that bayonet and scabbard could be combined as a wire-cutter ( see photo # 4 ).  A retention strap was also included, for extra grip when using as a combat knife. A truly revolutionary design that continues to influence bayonet design to the present day.
This old Combat / Survival knife
has that UTILITARIAN look like all vintage army / military equipment has.

The other side of the cross-guard is also lightly stamped but I can't quite make it out...looks like it starts with the letter:

HANDLE
:
The bayonet set is
decades
old
and the
handle has some wear and scratches from usage.  It looks like this antique handle is constructed from
Bakelite
material ? or another durable composite.
The impressive handle is secured with
2 large pins,
and there is also a
thong hole near the rounded butt end
for a leather tied-down or retention strap that could be added, if desired (and is not included.)
The metal hand guard has Factory Stamping of

BLADE
:
The
unfullered clip-point blade
has
saw-teeth
along the spine. This
saw-back
area measures approx.
2  3/8"
long and has a few dings in the saw-teeth.  I believe this is a
Stainless steel blade
therefore not inclined to rust.
There is also a
false top edge
that could be sharpened, if desired.
This vintage Military bayonet features a
window cut into the blade
, so that the bayonet and scabbard could be
combined as a
wire-cutter.
The impressive
heavy duty knife
is in the
Original
condition
I received it and does have signs of handling and normal usage for being decades old.

Note:
I am not an expert on these bayonets, and I purchased this many years ago from a knowledgeable overseas knife dealer. So my info is mostly from what he told me about the bayonet.
SCABBARD
:
The matching metal Scabbard is included and is
factory stamped:  ?? 0572  -
When the Bayonet is inserted in the Scabbard it fits very tightly.
This 1960 - 1965 original military knife
will make a good addition for the collector / outdoors-man / or history buff in your family!
