RARE enchantment serving bowl, Vernon Kilns by Walt Disney. This bowl is picture on page 198 of "Collectible Vernon Kilns" by Maxine Feek Nelson.
It measures  9.25" diameter
Marked on the bottom "Enchantmentdesigned by Walt Disney copyright 1940, Vernon Kilns Made in U.S.A. 125"
Good condition, pattern wear on 1 edge, dark spot on bottom of bowl, glaze slip on backside of rim of the bowl- see pic
Walt Disney’s grand experiment in animated film,
Fantasia,
had its world premiere in New York City on November 13, 1940.  One month earlier, a contract was signed between Vernon Kilns and the Walt Disney Studios to produce ceramic figurines, decorative bowls and vases of some of the characters from
Fantasia, Dumbo
and
The Reluctant Dragon
.  Vernon Kilns produced 36 individual ceramics from
Fantasia
.  They also created a series of 8 bas-relief
Fantasia
themed display bowls and flower vases in solid, two-toned and pastel colors.
Due to the high quality in the development of these beautiful pieces, combined with the ceramic’s high production cost and the start of World War II, Vernon Kilns discontinued the manufacturing of these pieces after only 18 months.  All of these circumstances contributed to making the Vernon Kilns, Walt Disney
Fantasia
line of ceramic figures, bowls and vases highly valuable and difficult to find.  To this day, the Vernon Kilns Disney

pieces are some of the most beautifully made
